Chemistry section is functioning under the Department of Education in Science and Mathematics (DESM). The Chemistry section has been providing a variety of Chemistry curricula for pre-service students and in-service teachers. We have a vibrant community of graduated students teaching in reputed institutes from secondary schools to research institutes. Chemistry is a fascinating subject that explores the properties and behavior of matter at the atomic and molecular level. It is a broad field that encompasses many different topics, including organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, and more.
In college, the chemistry curriculum typically begins with introductory courses that cover the fundamental principles of chemistry, such as atomic structure, chemical bonding, stoichiometry, and thermodynamics. As students progress through the curriculum, they will study more advanced topics such as kinetics, quantum mechanics, spectroscopy, and electrochemistry.
Chemistry courses in college typically involve a combination of lectures, laboratory work, and problem-solving exercises. Laboratory work is an important component of chemistry education, as it allows students to observe chemical phenomena and gain hands-on experience with experimental techniques.
Infrastructure
Class rooms, nine laboratories which include Organic, specialized Inorganic, Physical and Analytical chemistry laboratories. All the laboratories are equipped with necessary instruments and glassware’s. The section has separate chemicals and glassware’s inventories. The laboratories also equipped with Buchi Rotovapor, electronic melting point apparatus, vacuum pumps, Gouy balance, and UATR-IR spectrometer, etc., apart from many other electrical and electronic devices required for synthetic and analytical experiments, and for carrying out project works.
