Physics Section
It has been functioning as an important part of the Department of Education in Science and Mathematics(DESM) of RIE Mysuru. The Physics section has been providing a variety of Physics curricula for pre-service students and in-service teachers. We welcome you if you are interested in pursuing teaching as your profession. We have a vibrant community of graduated students teaching in reputed institutes from secondary schools to research institutes. Programmes Offered
Two programmes are offered; B. Sc. B. Ed. (PCM) and M. Sc. Ed (Physics)
1) Integrated Programme of Teacher Education titled ‘Bachelor of Science Education’ (B. Sc. B. Ed.) degree programme. The programme will be of four years duration organized on the semester pattern with 2 semesters in a year. The programme contents are Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and are equivalent to that of B.Sc. (PCM) of University of Mysuru. The programme contents related to education components in B. Sc. B. Ed. are equivalent to that of B. Ed. of University of Mysuru. This degree B. Sc. B. Ed. is equivalent to B. Sc. and B. Ed. degrees of the University of Mysuru.
2) Integrated Programme of Teacher Education titled ‘Master of Science Education’ (Physics) leading to the post-graduate degree, M.Sc.Ed. (Physics). The programme will be of six years duration organized on the semester pattern with 2 semesters in a year. The course content related to educational components in M.Sc.Ed. (Physics) are equivalent to that of B.Ed. of University of Mysuru and in addition, contains Professional Education components required for teaching of Physics at senior secondary level. This degree is equivalent to M.Sc. and B.Ed. degrees of University of Mysuru. The students who pass this course are considered eligible to pursue Ph.D. degree in Physics in compliance with Ph.D. regulations of University of Mysuru.
Research
All faculty members are actively involved in research activities, and published a number of research papers in peer reviewed journals and frequently participating and presenting papers in conferences and symposium.
Infrastructure
Class rooms, six individual laboratories which includes Mechanics, Optics, Electrical, Electronics, General Physics, nuclear and atomic Physics, solid state Physics, condensed matter physics, Nuclear physics, and Digital electronics.
