He joined NCERT as Assistant Professor of Economics, Department of Education in Social Science & Humanities, Regional Institute of Education, Mysore on 29th September 2023. His has done M.Phil and P.hD. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Before joining NCERT, he worked with Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, and Institute for Human Development (IHD), New Delhi.

Professor Malli Gandhi is presently working as Professor and Head Department of Education in Social Sciences and Humanities, Regional Institute of Education, NCERT, Mysore (Under the ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi). His areas of interest are: Social Sciences, Indian History, Colonial Anthropology, Education, Indian Constitution and Human Rights, Tribal Education, Development of Marginalized Groups, Subaltern Studies and Nomadic, Semi-Nomadic and Denotified Communities. 

Qualified in UGC NET . Got awarded Gold Medal for Best Ph.D., thesis in 1988 from S K University, Anantapur. Joined in NCERT in the year 2000. Prior to that in Teaching line since 1991. Taught for Post Graduate students at Kurnool SKU Autonomous PG Centre ( Now separate University) from 1998 to 2000. Published 3 books : 1. Sreemadramayana Kalpa vrukshamu-Balakanda Chando vasthu Silpamu (Ph.D.,Thesis) 2. Sree Madaandhra Mahabhagavatham lo Sree Krishna Sthuthulu 3. Thelika gaa Telugu Vyakaranam. Published articles on Language and literature.
